Man sentenced to 4 years over vandalism

The Rakai Court presided over by His Worship Mutala Peter sentenced a 48-year old Christopher Bagumya to 4 and half years in prison on an account of vandalizing electricity assets belonging to UEDCL. He, Mr. Bagumya pleaded guilty of stealing earth-rods at Lumbugu. His actions have since resulted in loss of business for both the community and the utility company.
In the same disposition, Police at Kyotera is holding four (4) people suspected to have stolen 60 Metres of the UEDCL’s 185 MM copper cable at Sanje. The suspects are Arinaitwe Venancio, Mugisha Keneth, Nareba Ahmed and Natuijuka Appolo. Full story at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQXZThcbaXw


This cable has impeded on business operations in the area, and notable among many is a coffee factory belonging to Celebrate Hope Ministries. Meanwhile, at Bakijurura in Rakai district, unknown people have cut an electricity utility pole belonging to UEDCL. The victims are at large but Police is fast tracking their arrest.
“We shall arrest anyone vandalising or buying any electricity assets” Said, ASP Muteera Asiimwe, DPC Kyotera, who was speaking to the media on the rampant vandalism of electricity assets in the area.
